Le Mans 2022 Ayse's Story

Page 20 - Saturday 11th June - Back in T17

We meandered our way back up towards the grandstands, pausing in the members area near the Dunlop bridge for a drink and a quick snack.  By the time we were settled into T17 (up at the top now that it was largely empty), It was already 11.20 pm.  As usual by this time I was primarily taking pictures to keep myself awake and alert.  Over seven hours into the race, the two Toyotas had everything under control, running about five seconds apart and a lap ahead of the 709 Glickenhaus.  The 'Mighty' #38 Jota Oreca was leading LMP2 (as many had expected) from the #9 Prema Orlen car, while in GTEPro the works Porsches were 1st and 3rd, sandwiching the #51 Ferrari.  The #79 Weathertech Porsche held sway in GTEAm.

And the videos were sadly getting worse....

By the time we got to midnight, I was beginning to feel the itch to get on the road out to Arnage and Indianapolis, even though it was a bit earlier than we would usually leave the stand.
