Getting Ready for the Off!

It was time to move on, as the start of the race was now only an hour away and we needed to take up our seats in the T17 Durand grandstand, so we hot-footed it from the Village through the Dunlop underpass and up behind the grandstands.  It was packed of course, in stark contrast to the rather eerie deserted stands and tribunes that greeted James and I when we were here on Tuesday afternoon.

Although we were pretty hungry by now, the queue for the cafe at the back of the stand was enormous so all four of us decided to take up our seats first.  Yes, I did say 'all four of us', as Robert had managed to organise a seat with us in the stand and we planned to stick with our band of four throughout the race.  And there were other Tenthers in the stand too - Chris (Kpy) was a few rows up to the right with Mathias (CTD).  Matt had bought a grandstand seat from Chris and on his first visit to Le Mans he was now safely under the experienced veteran's wing!

We got into our seats just in time to see the cars moving off from their echelon line to do one or two laps before the pit-lane closed.  In the front row we had a good view, if not a particularly photographically-friendly view.  Standing up in this grandstand was strictly forbidden and well-policed, but I wasn't all that worried.  I knew I would still be able to get that fabulous rolling start on video as usual.
